Who does not know the ghost village on Lake Garda?

While searching for mysterious places on Lake Garda, I came across the ghost village of Campo di Brenzone. After I put together a little itinerary, we left the very next day. We first drove by car from Tremosine sul Garda from our vacation apartment to Brenzone sul Garda. Once there, we quickly found a public parking lot in Castello (Via Belvedere, 2, 37010 Brenzone sul Garda).[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.20.2″ _module_preset=”default” header_font_size=”30px” header_3_font=”||||||||” global_colors_info=”{}”]

Circular hike with panoramic views over Lake Garda

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.20.2″ _module_preset=”default” hover_enabled=”0″ global_colors_info=”{}” sticky_enabled=”0″]

We had to orientate ourselves again on the spot and then we started in the direction of Campo di Brenzone. We go uphill and pass by Ca’ Perotti, now dilapidated, and reach the mountain church of S. Antonio delle Pontare, which was dedicated to Saint Abate, protector of domestic animals, muleteers and cattle breeders. From there, we first walked through the forest to the well-known ghost village of Campo.

The path mostly follows an old mule track between olive trees and stone walls and is interrupted every now and then to enjoy the magnificent views of the lake. I think the use of walking sticks is not wrong here.

[/et_pb_text][difl_imagegallery image_to_display=”3″ _builder_version=”4.20.2″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][difl_imagegalleryitem gallery_ids=”52902,52903,52914″ _builder_version=”4.20.2″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][/difl_imagegalleryitem][/difl_imagegallery][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”4.19.5″ _module_preset=”default” custom_margin=”|auto|-8px|auto||” custom_padding=”||4px|||” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”4.19.5″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.20.2″ _module_preset=”default” header_font_size=”30px” header_3_font=”||||||||” global_colors_info=”{}”]

Have we met a ghost?

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row column_structure=”1_2,1_2″ _builder_version=”4.20.2″ _module_preset=”default” custom_margin=”0px||||false|false” custom_padding=”1px||||false|false” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_column type=”1_2″ _builder_version=”4.19.5″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.20.2″ _module_preset=”default” custom_margin=”0px||||false|false” global_colors_info=”{}”]Ghost village Campo di Brenzone – Arrived there, we first admired the mountain village and one felt transported back to another time. We were there in November and there were a lot of nativity scenes on display in different variations.

Strolling through the quiet alleys will send many a shiver down your spine. The place is said to have been inhabited until the 1950s. Between the remains of the houses, orange trees and vines, a small circular path leads. Besides a small church with beautiful murals and a spring, you should not miss the view of the southern part of the lake at the “LOVE” sign.

And if you’re lucky, you’ll meet a local and get a delicious drink (friends of ours did). Unfortunately, we did not see anyone during the time we were there.

After exploring the village, we returned to Castello on path no. 34, along a cart track that was steep at first, then slightly descending, via Marniga.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”1_2″ _builder_version=”4.19.5″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_image src=”https://gardasee-inside.de/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Gardasee-Geisterdorf-Campo-di-Brenzone-Gasse-mit-Haeusern.jpeg” alt=”Lake Garda ghost village Campo di Brenzone alley with houses” title_text=”Lake Garda ghost village Campo di Brenzone alley with houses” _builder_version=”4.20.2″ _module_preset=”default” custom_padding=”4px||||false|false” global_colors_info=”{}”][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”4.20.2″ _module_preset=”default” custom_margin=”-30px||||false|false” custom_padding=”0px||||false|false” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”4.19.5″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.20.2″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]The way back leads along the lake shore, where you can process the beautiful impressions of the tour in one of the small bars or restaurants.
