From <strong>Lake Garda<\/strong> to <strong>Venice<\/strong> - that's no distance at all.<\/p>\n<p>A few years ago, we<strong>took the train<\/strong> from Rovereto to <strong>Venice<\/strong> for a<strong><a href=\"#Tagesausflug\"> day trip<\/a><\/strong>. At that time we <strong>parked<\/strong> at the <strong>train station in Rovereto<\/strong>, the <strong>daily price<\/strong> was <strong>5 euros<\/strong> (today it's 6 euros).  Getting a parking space was easy, there were <strong>enough free spaces<\/strong>. I can't say what that looks like in the high season. I assume that July and August will be busier.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, there are also some construction sites around the station, which makes the parking situation a bit more difficult. The<strong> train journey<\/strong> itself was very <strong>pleasant<\/strong> and we only had to <strong>change trains<\/strong> once in <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/gardasee-inside.de\/en\/from-lake-garda-to-verona\/\" title=\"From Lake Garda to Verona\">Verona<\/a><\/strong>. On the way there we were welcomed by somewhat \"shady\" characters wanted. K\u00e4the recognized directly that they wanted to put us in an \"unofficial\" cab at inflated prices.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, we found out beforehand how to get to our hotel in the best and cheapest way. Since we had already planned our activities for the day and also wanted to visit the city again the next day, we opted for a <strong>2-day ticket<\/strong> for the <strong>official water bus<\/strong>. There was a long line at the ticket booth, luckily there is a <strong>ticket machine<\/strong> right at the <strong>stop for<\/strong> the water cabs.<\/p>\n<p>Buying a ticket there was totally easy and self-explanatory. So why stand in line? For us the ticket was definitely worth it, we made several trips with it. Sailing along the <strong>canal<\/strong> by <strong>boat<\/strong> is also a <strong>special experience<\/strong>.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t<\/div><div class=\"et_d4_element et_pb_row et_pb_row_4  et_pb_css_mix_blend_mode et_block_row\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"et_d4_element et_pb_column_4_4 et_pb_column et_pb_column_4  et_pb_css_mix_blend_mode et-last-child et_block_column\">\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"et_pb_module et_d4_element et_pb_text et_pb_text_6  et_pb_text_align_left et_pb_bg_layout_light\">\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\"><h3>Hotel Santa Chiara - Directly on the canal<\/h3>\n<p>The boat ride (vaporetto) was short, it was only <strong>2 stops to<\/strong> the <strong>Ponte Roma<\/strong>. Our<a title=\"Go to Booking.com Hotel Santa Chiara\" href=\"https:\/\/www.booking.com\/hotel\/it\/santa-chiara.de.html?aid=7962467&amp;no_rooms=1&amp;group_adults=2\" rel=\"sponsored noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> Hotel Santa Chiara<\/a> was right at the bus stop.<\/p>\n<p>The welcome at the hotel was <strong>super friendly<\/strong>, our room was also ready (despite arriving at 11:00 in the morning). As icing on the cake, we also got a <strong>room upgrade<\/strong> with a <strong>view of the Grand Canal.<\/strong> Our room was <strong>top equipped<\/strong>, clean and very comfortable.<\/p>\n<p>The only <strong>drawback<\/strong>: we would have liked a free bottle of water, so we had to resort to the minibar. We had opted for a <strong>guided tour<\/strong> and that was absolutely the <strong>right decision<\/strong>. On the way to the meeting point we found another small cozy restaurant for lunch. The <strong><a title=\"Tripadvisor - Ristorante Da Mamo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tripadvisor.de\/Restaurant_Review-g187870-d1320417-Reviews-Da_Mamo-Venice_Veneto.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">\"Da Mamo\"<\/a><\/strong> is located in a small side street away from the hustle and bustle.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>meeting point<\/strong> for the sightseeing tour was actually easy to find, but due to the many people and narrow streets I was already slightly nervous the closer we got to the agreed time. In the end, everything worked out. Our <strong>guide Luciana<\/strong> (Venetian with a German background) was brilliant: her explanations and explanations of the Doge's Palace and St. Mark's Basilica were <strong>very informative<\/strong> but not at all long-winded. Luciana spiced up many historical backgrounds with a pinch of humor, so that a grin or two came across our faces.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, we had to <strong>wait in line<\/strong> a bit in front of St. <strong>Mark<\/strong> 's Basilica, probably because of the <strong>high water<\/strong> in St. Mark's Square and the walkways that were set up. Of all things, when we were standing in line it started to rain. Luciana has given the tourists without umbrella and raincoat the opportunity to stand under on the side of the road, She stayed in line in the rain!<\/p>\n<p>We really enjoyed the tour, we would do it again anytime. You get a <strong>lot of info<\/strong> and background information <strong>about the<\/strong> <strong>city<\/strong> and the <strong>history<\/strong> in 2.5 hours. If you have a cappuccino or <strong>Aperol Spritz<\/strong> right on <strong>St. Mark's Square<\/strong> or on the <strong>Grand Canal<\/strong> around the <strong>Rialto Bridge<\/strong>, you don't have to wonder about a glowing credit card. There such an Aperolchen costs already times 15 or 16 euro....<\/p>\n<p>If you do some research and move <strong>away from the tourist crowds<\/strong>, you can eat and drink in Venice at reasonable prices. Our <strong>lunch<\/strong> at \"Da Mamo\" was great (even if it was just a pizza), the prices absolutely within reason. After the sightseeing tour we had another afternoon drink consisting of Caff\u00e8 Latte and Aperol. Away from the hustle and bustle by a small canal, we had a cozy table outside.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>food<\/strong> was <strong>top<\/strong>, the <strong>service<\/strong> was <strong>super attentive<\/strong> and <strong>friendly<\/strong>. K\u00e4the even got a <strong>tiramisu<\/strong> with <strong>sparkler<\/strong> as a <strong>birthday surprise<\/strong>! And no, I had NOTHING to do with it. Oh yes, the Aperol price here was 4.50 euros, so even cheaper than at some locations on Lake Garda. For many of you, this is certainly an indescribable experience and the view of the lagoon from the water is quite something. Many visitors decide to travel from their vacation resort on Lake Garda to Venice to experience the unique atmosphere of the lagoon city. The city of Venice offers a multitude of sights that can be easily explored on a day trip if planned accordingly.<\/p>\n<p>If you want to save on fuel costs, you can reach Venice quickly and easily by train, which makes this day trip particularly attractive.
